Today at work I was busy informing, and in most cases reminding my customers that I'll be out of the office for the next 2 1/2 weeks on vacation. Strangely enough once I had reminded them, they virtually all had a project or need for something urgently that just had to be quoted before I left. Perhaps I should go on vacation more often :-)
So with only 2 days left until I leave, I'm feverishly putting the last of my clothes and personal items together. When I last checked the temperature in Shanghai had started to drop a little and was looking more comfortable for my arrival on Saturday afternoon.

- Very briefly…… I grew up in Rugby, England and had a wonderful if eventful childhood. After graduating from school I joined the fire dept and was a fulltime firefighter for approximately 8 years. Sometime in the early 80's as I became aware of the rise of the personal computer, I decided to make the move and took a position as a computer sales engineer & account manager. In 1990 I moved to the US to run the Silicon Valley based offices of the British software company that employed me. i was lucky enough to get to travel pretty extensively throughout the US, and although it's an amazing country with so many incredible places, I decided it was time for a change. So here I am now, living and working in Shanghai, China. There will be lots more to come in respect to that chapter of my life and the challenges stemming from the language and the cultural differences.
